Political Cartoon On the Roosevelt Corallery

This political cartoon is on the Roosevelt Corollary. I know this because the cartoon is labeled the Monroe Doctrine. The cartoonists message is that the Monroe Doctrine and Roosevelt Corollary were like a gun pointed at Europe's face. This is known because the cartoon shows a gun pointed at Europe. Another opinion on the topic might be that it was a good thing because  Europe wouldn't have any problems with America now. The cartoonist used symbolism. The gun represents the Monroe Doctrine and the king represents Europe's powerful empire. The cartoonist also used labeling. The land is labeled Europe and Republican of Santo Domingo. This political cartoon doesn't support my position on American imperialism because it shows it in a negative way.

The Annexation Of Hawaii

This political cartoon is on the annexation of Hawaii. I can see this in the cartoon where the state of Hawaii is being represented as a child. The cartoonists message on this issue is that the United States is like a guardian to Hawaii. this is shown in the cartoon because Hawaii is shown much smaller than America. Another opinion on this topic might be that Hawaii didn't want to be under the control of America. The cartoonist used an analogy. They compared Hawaii to a child and the US to its parents. Also, the cartoonist used a lot of symbolism. All the children at the table represent a different country. This cartoon supports my position on American imperialism because the cartoon shows it in a positive prospective. The cartoon shows that since the US is bigger than the other countries, it helps them.

Purchase Of Alask Political Cartoon

This political cartoon is on the topic of the purchase of Alaska. I can see this from the block of ice in the political cartoon that is labeled Russia America. The cartoonists message on this topic is that America got a Block of ice while Russia got a lot of money. This is shown in the cartoon where two people are taking ice and the other keeps the money. Another opinion on this topic is that America gained from acquiring Alaska. This is because we got many resources. the cartoonists used symbolism. The block of ice in the cartoon symbolizes Alaska and the people symbolize America and Russia. Also the cartoonist used labeling. The cart, bag of money, and block of ice are all labeled to show what they are in the cartoon. This cartoon doesn't supports my stance on American imperialism because although Russia got money America got bigger and stronger as a nation. This cartoon is negative because many people thought the purchase was a waste of money.

Open Door Policy PoliticalCartoon 2

The issue of this political cartoon is on the topic of the open door policy. This is shown on the piece of paper in Uncle Sam's hand. the cartoonists message is that China is being divided. This is shown by all the people cutting China into sections. A different opinion on this topic might be that China was happy that it had so many different countries. The cartoonist used symbolism. All the people represent different countries that want to trade with China, also the cartoonist used exaggeration. They make Uncle Sam bigger than the rest of the people in the cartoon. This cartoon supports my position on imperialism by showing that the countries can share land. The countries don't have to fight to get what they want.

SpanishAmerican War Political Cartoon

This political cartoon is on the issue of the Spanish American war. I know this because the cartoonist used symbolism and labeling. The tree symbolizes Spain and Uncle Sam represents America. The cartoonists message is that America is taking Spain's colonies. This is shown in the cartoon because Uncle Sam is chopping off flakes of the colonies. Another opinion on the topic might be that this issue is a good thing because all the smaller, weaker countries will be under the protection of America. The cartoonist used an analogy. They compared Uncle Sam chopping down a tree to the Spanish empire falling. The cartoonist also used symbolism. uncle Sam symbolizes America while the person on top of the tree represents Spain. this cartoon supports my position on imperialism because it shows that when one powerful nation falls another one gains from that.

Panama Canal Project Political Cartoon

The political cartoons issue is on the topic of the panama canal. I know this because the cartoonist labeled the box Panama Canal Project. the cartoonists message on the issue is that the republicans were being forced to carry Roosevelt's project. the cartoonist shows that President Roosevelt is pushing the republicans and the project is literally on their back. Another opinion someone might have about the cartoon is that the republicans were with the President and that he wasn't pushing them into the Project. Also in the cartoon the elephant/republicans seems sad. However another opinion might be that the republicans were happy to help the president. The cartoonist used exaggeration. The President is very short compared to uncle Sam and the other characters. Also the cartoonist used symbolism. The elephant represents the republicans. This cartoon supports my position on imperialism by showing that expanding Americans territory has to be forced. Much of the territory we got was from other countries.
